Watch in a small window

Step by step3 stepsUpdated 30 October 2026

Picture in Picture keeps the video in a small window on top of other apps. It is part of SkipTube Pro.

Short answer

Tap the video to show its buttons. Tap Picture in picture at the top right of the video.

SkipTube is for iPhone.

Start Picture in Picture

You need Pro for this. On the free plan, the same button opens a panel that says Picture in picture is part of Pro

  1. Play a video on the Watch screen.
  2. Tap the video. Its buttons show on top of it.
  3. Tap Picture in picture at the top right of the video.

The video shrinks into a small window. It floats over whatever you open next. Move it with your finger. Use its own buttons to play, pause or bring it back to SkipTube.

The button must be in the video itself. The PiP button in the row under the video does not start it. It shows a message: Tap the picture in picture button on the video This is because your iPhone starts Picture in Picture only from a tap inside the video.

It also works in Shorts

The Shorts player has the same button, at the top right. You need Pro there too. See Watch or hide Shorts.

If it does not start

A short message at the bottom says Picture in picture is not available here That is your iPhone saying no. Nothing is wrong with your video.

Tap the video, then tap Picture in picture again. If it keeps saying no, you can still use the small player inside SkipTube. See the next section.

Picture in Picture and the small player

These are two different things. The small player inside SkipTube floats above the tabs while you look around the app. See Tabs and the small player. Picture in Picture is the small window of your iPhone. It stays on top of other apps.
