Short guides about feeding, sleep, nappies, crying and more, written for the first year. Free for everyone.

Short answer

Slide the bar at the bottom of the screen to the left, then tap Guides. Tap a topic or a card, or type in Search the guides.

Veilleuse is for iPhone.

Open the guides

The bar at the bottom of the screen has a second side.

  1. Put your finger on the bar at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Slide it to the left. The calendar square becomes Guides, and the middle becomes Ask.
  3. Tap Guides.

The page Guides opens. The guides are free on every plan.

To come back to today, slide the bar to the right, or tap the round arrow at the top left.

Find a guide

  • For your baby: at the top, under your baby's name and age, cards picked for your baby's age in weeks. They change as your baby grows.
  • Topics: one line for each topic, such as Feeding, Sleep or When to get help. Tap a topic to see its guides.
  • Search the guides: tap the field at the top and type a few words, for example "green poo". The list changes as you type.

Search works with no internet once the guides are on your phone.

If nothing matches, the page says No guide on that yet. With the Family plan, Ask about it under it sends your words to Claire. See Ask Claire about babies.

Read a guide

  1. Tap a guide. It opens as a page that slides up.
  2. At the top: its topic, how many minutes it takes to read, and the date it was last checked.
  3. Read down. The guide ends with Sources: the health services it comes from. Tap one to open it in your browser.

With the Family plan, Ask about this at the bottom opens Claire with the guide in mind.

The guides are general information, not medical advice. If you are worried about your baby, call your doctor or your local health line.

To close a guide, pull it down from its top, or tap the arrow at its top left.

If the guides do not load

The first time, the guides come from the internet. After that they are kept on your phone.

  • Guides could not load. Check the connection and try again. Check your Wi-Fi or mobile data, then tap Try again.
  • This guide is not available That guide was taken out or changed. Go back to Guides and find it again by its topic.

A paused family

When the owner's Family plan has ended, a carer sees a note on a pale screen instead of the diary. The note has a button Read the guides. The guides stay open to everyone. See What is free, and what the Family plan adds.
