How does the first month at half price work?

On the plans screen, tap Monthly. The title says Your first month at half price. Then tap Subscribe.

You pay $5.99 for the first month. Then the plan renews automatically at $11.99 a month.

To stop before the full price, cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the first month, in your iPhone Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Veilleuse.

No half price in the title? This Apple Account cannot get the offer, for example after the old free trial.
